Between bath time, pajama time, story time and any other bedtime routines, getting little ones to wind down for bed can wind up being a headache—and don’t even get us started on rushed morning routines. To help make everyday routines a little bit easier, we teamed up with mom-of-three Jamielynn Acker to get her tricks for getting kids excited about brushing their teeth. Here’s what she had to say:

1. Pick a Tasty Toothpaste

Minty flavors may be your go-to, but that doesn’t mean your kiddos are fans of the flavor. Jamielynn tested out the new Arm & Hammer Kids Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste with her little ones, who were each fans of the fun fruit bubble flavor! “It tastes so delicious that my kids love to brush.” While kids love the flavor, we love that it doesn’t compromise on cavity protection and has no artificial sweeteners. Plus, it’s available at Walmart so it’s easy to pick up on your next trip to the store.

2. Sing a Little Song

What activity isn’t better with music? “After our bedtime story we sing a song while brushing our teeth to encourage them to brush longer and on beat. This helps my kids take their time to thoroughly brush their teeth!” Take turns picking songs each night (including your own faves!) to keep things fresh.

3. Try the Tried & True

There’s a reason the Tooth Fairy has been around so long: It works to keep kids motivated to brush! Jamielynn jokes that “The tooth fairy gives a little extra for squeaky clean teeth,” but doing anything special when your child loses a tooth can help keep them motivated to brush well. You can even branch outside of money under their pillow with a few creative Tooth Fairy ideas.
